Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid is a water-soluble vitamin essential for plantsand animals. 

Humans, unlike other animals, are unable to synthesize vitamin C on their own so it must be obtained from the diet.

 

Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant that provides protection against oxidative stress-induced cellular damage by scavenging of reactiveoxygen species. Vitamin C is also an essential co-factor for collagen biosynthesis, carnitine and catecholamine metabolism, and dietary ironabsorption.

 

BQC Ascorbic Acid Assay Kit is a quick, easy, and reproducible assay forquantifying ascorbic acid concentration in different type of samples.

 

분석 원리 (Assay Principles)

BQC Ascorbic Acid Assay Kit is based on the Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Assay.

 

Antioxidants in the sample reduce a colorless Fe3+ complex to a blue colored Fe2+ complex which shows a maximum of absorbance at 593 nm. Absorbance recorded at 593 nm is, therefore, directly proportional to the total antioxidant capacity. The kit employs ascorbate oxidase to remove ascorbic acid from the samples. Ascorbic acid levels in a sample are determined by measuring the difference between the total antioxidant capacity in absence and presence of ascorbate oxidase.

 

The amount of ascorbic acid in a sampleis calculated from a standard curve generated from known concentrations of Vitamin C.
